Coming soon! They will get new menus too that will be laminated!
Well, what a lovely surprise. We were visiting family and this cafe is not far from their house so 9 of us had a hangover cure feed this morning. Loved it, the food was great and the team were lovely. Fast efficient and friendly.Just had the a full Bacon sausage egg and fried onions sandwich. Cooked to perfection and not to greasy with the egg nice and runny..
Really nice place, great food but really tiny space.
The! Place! for Spanish style tapas and sharing plates. A great selection of sherry wines as well as other Spanish wines. Open kitchen, quick service, friendly and attentive.
Bit pushy and a little rude otherwise a nice place to have a snack and a drink. A bit expensive for the size of the portions they give but I guess when you combine Tapas dishes with a London location that's what you get.
12 weeks of isolation has been a trying time, these unprecedented times have been difficult for everyone. Heard from a bloke called dave that there was draught beer being served around Bermondsey street and found the most amazingly beautiful little establishment. It was providing the good people of london with PINTS of Estrella in lovely weather. 14 out of 10 would recommend. Felt really comfortable queueing up and purchasing beverages with the social distancing measures they put in.
Cute little tapas place. Very good food and friendly service.
Met by owner who acomodated us in a very busy and loud restaurant. The tapas are listed on two boards. Prompt, attentive and friendly service. Great tasting tapas with a good range of options. Liked it so much we went back a second time and were seated at the bar...cook was super and advised us of what dishes were being made. All around a great time! Made us feel welcome.
Fast and efficient service, we were beautifully welcomed and all the staff were very attentive and happy. The food is good and the products fresh.
Lovely little tapas restaurant in a quaint area of Bermondsey. Staff are very friendly and the tapas is top notch though mainly traditional. A repeat customer when I’m in London.
Brilliant food. Excellent staff. The tapas dishes weren't brought out all at once, almost as starter main etc. Staff attentive without being intrusive. The place is small and very busy. Went a bit later so we could get a seat as always busy
Very good wine and amazing tapas. This restaurant is enjoyable from every tape of palate.
Great food, fantastic service and a lovely noisy Spanish atmosphere.
What a gem! We fancied some tapas and found this wonderful little restaurant on our visit to London. Managed to get the last two seats at the bar area. Everything was perfect from the decor, service and staff to the wonderful plates of food we devoured. Highlights were the Pork Cheeks with sweet potato and the bean, butternut squash and spinach. To be honest everything was a highlight and would highly recommend.
Probably the best tapas we've had. Where to eat better? Amazing food and service! ☺ï¸
A hidden gem. Absolutely amazing tapas. Great atmosphere and buzz. The staff are friendly and On the ball. I cant recommend this place enough. you need to get there early as it gets extremely busy.
Tight, flavorful, energetic spot with simple but excellently produced tapas. It's worth the wait if you have the time.Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
Cosy place with amazing people who look after you and fantastic food and wine. Our first visit but not the last
Lots of choice. Very tasty. Good for a quick bite
I love José. Very fresh and tasty tapas and wine bar with changing menu. It can be hard to find a space on evenings / wkends as it's rightfully very popular. On this occasion I popped in for a snack and drink as I was in London for work and it was as good as I remembered. I'll definitely be back.
Probably the best tapas in London. Extremely busy at basically all times it's open, but the wait is usually not too bad, and always worth it.The "pan con tomate" is super simple but amazing. I could eat it all day.The menu is always changing with new options and fresh ingredients. José owns about half of Bermondsey street so the chances are you'll see him pop in!Really friendly, chaotic, buzzing atmosphere – this is what tapas is all about!
This place is a real gem. It rating speaks for itself. The staff really knows their stuff and go out of their way to make you feel at home and taken care of. Only bad thing is the small amount of space the place has to seat customers. Surprisingly, the restroom is extra spacious.
Cozy place, solid tapas, in a really cool location.
Probably best Spanish in London, in a tight run race with Barrafina.
Truly excellent service, sat outside so can’t speak for inside decor / atmosphere although felt the buzz, constantly busy, small queue but seated quickly and with a smile. Traditional but not exceptional tapas, salsa for patatas bravas was stand out however, squid over black rice big room for improvement. Incredibly gigantic olives & padrón peppers can’t go wrong.
The food was great. Good quality and proper Spanish. The place is small and cozy but I think they over use the capacity of the place which makes it look very crowded. We had to eat outside otherwise we would have to share a very small table with other customers.I believe a little music would help the crowded atmosphere. We meet a very nice French server, she was very friendly and genuine. However, the other woman who served us was extremely rude and not welcoming at all. She looked bothered by us. She dis not check on us any time of the dinner.
A treasure of a Spanish tapas bar, super food, wine and atmosphere
Wonderful food, friendly staff. It's a small restaurant, so felt we were lucky to get a seat in the window on a Friday afternoon for lunch. There's a small wine list with a good selection of well priced glasses of wine. ALL of the food is listed on 2 blackboards above the kitchen. There's something for everyone, but the baby cuttlefish deserve separate praise, as do the clams. I'd never been down Bermondsey St, but will definitely be heading back to explore further
The place is a bit crowded to me but the food is amazing. Especially the hake and octopus, must try!
I think the Dover sole was great. Its fishy smell was lush, I really liked the razor clams, rib eye steak, croquettes, padron peppers, Very friendly service, a chill dinning atmosphere
One of the best tapas places in London, lovely, cosy little venue, great service. Perfect for a date.
We loved it! Busy and bustling tapas bar on a corner on Bermondsey street. We had to wait a short time for a table, but the staff were great at managing our expectations. Once we were seated we ordered five dishes between us - all excellent - and then two chocolate pots to finish. Will definitely return!
Amazing Spanish tapas. The menu changes every time so it's always a great surprise that never disappoints. There is always dish for everyone (meat, veg, vegan). You cannot reserve and it is a cosy place so try and get there early for dinner so you don't have to wait long for a table.
Great selection of wines! The food is great, but tapas is supposed to be quick and effortless. Unfortunately this is not the case here. If you want to EAT this is not the place to go because you will easily spend £80+ for 2 people without even noticing. This is a place for socialising and drinking, not having lunch or dinner.
Best tapas place I have been to in london so far!
Tapas and service was very good. Small place but very cozy mood.
Great Tapas, excellent wine selection and the vibe about this place makes it the place to be on the weekend
Finally got the chance to try out this place which I’ve been meaning to visit for a while. It’s almost always busy, and rightfully so. Food is authentic, flavoursome and there’s a very extensive list of Spanish wines. Prices are reasonable by UK standards and value for money. Will definitely return.
Very nice wine selection from different regions of Spain. Tapas were delicious. The lamb shanks were amazing and cooked perfectly.
Such a cute little place. Simple amazing food and friendly service. Nice wine list. Try the iberico pork and black ink croquettes!
Really cool place. Great food and a nice selection of beverages. Staff were really friendly and helpful with table service even if you're outside which is a nice touch! I went for a friend's birthday and would happily go again or recommend for something similar
Small tapas bar with good atmosphere and friendly service..but to be honest, a bit overpriced..Could be a good place for a few drinks and nibbles but not really the best option if you are starving..It might be a bit unfair to compare the prices to what you pay in Spain, especially for Jamon, but you don't really get great value at Jose
If you love tapas, you must visit this super cute tapas bar located on Bermondsey Street. It's a small restaurant with a concise menu but you really do feel as though you're in Spain. You’ll find the menu chalked on two boards behind the food counter so it’s a good idea to take a picture, you can then grab yourself a stool and peruse at your leisure. The menu changes daily depending on what ingredients look appealing at the market. There's enough choice for vegetarians, meat eaters and fish eaters. Every dish is delicious! in the evening you see people spilling out into the street chatting and sipping their wine.
Loved this spot. Went for lunch and had a few small plates and some gin & tonics. The staff was friendly and attentive. I recommend the wagyu, tortilla, and cockles. Great people watching if you sit by the window, too.
Flashbacks to Granada. Probably the best tapas I’ve had in London. Great range of dishes that change everyday. It’s always busy so don’t expect them to have space if you just turn up. Nice wine list of regional wines that go great with the food. It’s in one of the most scenic spots of Bermondsey street, looking across to the park and flower shop. A perfect place to sit, have a light lunch, and watch the world go by.Reasonably steep but you absolutely get what you pay for. Because it’s tapas, for your money you’ll get to eat a wide variety of food.
Lovely and cosy place with the delicious Spanish tapas and great selection of wine. Great place for date or catching up with a friend. Not best for a bigger groups as the place is quite small.
Fast service and generally good food, though I think the Dover sole was not that great. Its fishy smell was a little strong...other than this, I really liked the croquettes, padron peppers, razor clams and rib eye steak.Very friendly service, a chill dinning atmosphere, you only have 1.5hrs for the table.
Such a great, buzzy vibe in Jose-would definitely go back. It’s a quick turn around which means the food arrives quickly and there’s pace to the service. The pork cheeks and squid were delightful, although the pork was meant to be accompanied by sweet potato and my only complaint is there was a pitiful amount. Don’t be afraid to get the anchovies-they are worlds from what you’d think of anchovies as tasting like!
In a city awash with Spanish dining options, Jose holds its own. We were deeply impressed by the warm hospitality and flavour forward, unpretentious plates. The gambas and croquetas were absolute winners and the wine list had some pretty refreshing and delicious options. Kudos to the team, well done!
What a super place this is! Great food, fantastic service and a lovely noisy Spanish atmosphere. Really enjoyed having a glass of wine whilst waiting outside on the street for a table... great touch!Very good Spanish tapas bar, so small but very cozy and they make very fresh tapas, portions are small just to be aware.
Slightly overpriced for the portions overall; meatballs and cuttlefish was a little underwhelming, arrived lukewarm and a little on the salty side. However, the pluma iberica was grilled to perfection, the olive oil flavour shone through the tender, fatty meat and it melted in the mouth. Atmosphere was nice and cosy, service was decent, didn’t have to wait long as we arrived just before the dinner crowd. Pretty alright fare, if only everything were about £1-£1.50 cheaper, I’d say it was well worth the money.
